Del Monte's Gold for Gold Treasure Hunt

Del Monte Fresh Produce recently launched its “Gold for Gold” treasure hunt promotion. This is the second year Del Monte is encouraging US and Canadian grocery shoppers to purchase Del Monte Gold® Extra Sweet whole or fresh cut pineapple at their local retailer for a chance to enter to win a whole pound of 24k gold. Additionally, two second prize winners will each take home an ounce of 24k gold. The promotion runs from October 13 to November 16.

Easy Delicious Baguettes

I enjoyed following the steps and tips from the Idiot's Guide Baking book to make these baguettes, which gave me wonderful results. These two loaves of fresh homemade bread was enjoyed by everyone in my family. It was perfect to serve with the homemade stew. This recipe for the bread is from the book.

Sweet Saffron Rice

1 cup basmati or long grain rice

1 tablespoons ghee 

water

1/4 to 1/3 cup sugar adjust to preference

2" cinnamon stick

1/2 teaspoon of saffron threads

4 cloves

3 whole cardamom

Pinch of salt

2 tablespoon raisins

Cotton’s 24 Hour Runway Show

Cotton Incorporated welcomes Giuliana and Bill Rancic’s return to Cotton’s 24 Hour Runway Show. In the third year of this show the couple will be joined by E! News’ Jason Kennedy and TV host Michael Yo from “The Insider” on CBS. Additional hosts for the cotton fashion event are Miami entertainment journalist, Ellie Rodriguez, and Scott Evans, anchor/reporter for Channel One News. Staying hydrated is an important part of living a healthy lifestyle. A new survey of Canadian mothers conducted by Ipsos Reid on behalf of Nestlé Waters Canada reveals that, on average, moms are consuming between three to four soft drinks per week. 39 percent say they are not looking to reduce their intake of these drinks at all. When thinking about the number of teaspoons of sugar an average soft drink contains, just two in ten moms correctly identified 10 teaspoons per container. Juice can also come in at a high count with an average 355 ml glass of orange juice containing just over 8 teaspoons.

Reports show that in the United States for 2014, about 62,900 new thyroid cancer cases will be diagnosed. Medullary thyroid cancer is a rare form of cancer located in the thyroid gland at the base of the throat, which represents about three to four percent of all thyroid cancers. Since it is Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month, AstraZeneca has launched the aMTCSupport.com online resource center to provide information and support specifically designed for people living with advanced medullary thyroid cancer (aMTC) and their loved ones. This site allows people to understand the hurdles associated with this rare disease, and comfort those who have it.

Electricity Bills Increase in America Due To Proposed EPA Regulations

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has proposed sweeping regulations that would require states to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from the electricity sector by an average of 30 percent nationally. This costly plan is another step in the administration’s policies designed to eliminate low cost and reliable electricity and replace it with expensive and less reliable sources. The impact of this regulation will be felt by all Americans, as the electricity bills will become expensive.
