I like using Breville’s sleek products, which are esteemed for durable quality, innovation, speed, and precision. I have been enjoying Breville’s Sous Chef™ 12, another wonderful heavy-duty construction and cutting-edge innovation designed to be the perfect kitchen sidekick.
This Breville Sous Chef 12 has been useful for me to prepare a variety of meals. It has made my job in the kitchen easier. This food processor is versatile, as it allows us to do a variety of tasks such as chopping vegetables, fruit, herbs, nuts, dried fruit, breadcrumb, cooked or raw meat, chicken and fish; mix dough for cake batters and cookie dough; and puree baby food and nut butters.
Breville’s Sous Chef 12 (BFP660SIL) simplifies food preparation, combining both speed and precision for professional results and maximized efficiency. It is equipped with a 3-in-1 and includes a stainless-steel micro-serrated S-blade, dough blade, adjustable slicer and a reversible shredder or grater, and spatula.
Its three distinct chute sizes, large, mid and small feed chute, provide optimal control and consistency. The large 5” chute tackles bulky ingredients, such as potatoes with ease without the need for pre-cutting. The 2 3⁄4” mid-sized chute is useful for processing medium-sized ingredients, while the mini 1 1⁄2” feed chute grips carrots and other narrow ingredients to prevent topple-over mid-slicing.
I like that the adjustable slicer can be adjusted to 24 settings from fine 0.3mm to 8.0mm thickness. To change the thickness, we have to hold the disk by the outer edge with one hand and adjust the dial on the underside with the other hand. There is an arrow graphic to help us indicate the thickness. When using the reversible shredder by placing the hole face up we can get coarse texture, and the smaller holes will give finer results. The sharp blades and cutting discs are to be attached while the appliance is off.
While the Breville’s Sous Chef™ 12 offers us multi-functional versatility, I am happy that it doesn't require too much space on our counter top. This machine has 1000-watt induction motor, and delivers speed and performance. The unit's large capacity bowl can accommodate 12 cups of dry ingredients or 8 1⁄2 cups of liquid ingredients.
I like that the bowl can be easily cleaned with warm soap water and a soft cloth by hand. If we want to remove odour or stain that may remain on the bowl, we need to leave the bowl soaked in warm soapy water for five minutes before washing it.
Like any other appliance the motor base, power cord, and plug has to be kept away from water. We have to ensure that the appliance is left on a levelled, clean surface since the vibration can cause the appliance to move. The appliance has non-skid rubber feet to keep the unit in place while processing. Since the Breville Sous Chef 12 has an integrated safety interlock system, the motor will stop once the bowl is removed or if it is not securely attached. I like that the Breville appliances have a polarized, assist plug to reduce the risk of electric shock and for easy, safe removal. The power supply cords are short to avoid tangles and it can be pushed into the housing to reduce tangle. When we are not using the food processor, we can store some of the blades in the bowl, and this also provides protection.
Since I started using this Sous Chef 12, it has become a necessity in our kitchen. I use this appliance every day to prepare the ingredients I need to cook and bake. It is like having a sous chef in my kitchen!
