Coconut sambal


1 cup fresh coconut grated
1 tsp chillie powder to taste
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp maldive fish
1 tsp lemon or lime juice to taste
2 tbsp onion chopped
curry leaves optional
green chillie optional

Coconut sambal is delicious with roti, bread, hoppers or string hoppers. Mix all the ingredients with hand to squeeze the flavours. Add more or less chillie powder, salt and lemon or lime juice depending on how spicy or how much coconut is added.

  2. My mother always make this coconut sambal. But she never used fish in this.
